Back in February 2016 we decided to attempt to brew some beer. Being a cheapskate I aimed to keep investments as low as possible, but still ended up buying stuff for about 1000 SEK.
Barbatum Home Brewery beer #1 is called Svingeln EKG after the neighbourhood where I live and the hop variety East Kent Goldings.
According to the label it’s an English pale ale which isn’t a very commonly assigned style these days. Best bitter would probably be a more accurate category, although historically the two have been more or less interchangeable.
The brew session was catastrophic in many ways but we somehow managed to put some six liters of beer through fermentation. The finished product tasted quite good and adhered to Bitter style guidelines.
